Planning Your Next Snowmobiling Trip In Northern Ontario By Rob Parker If you love wintertime outdoor recreation, chances are you have been on a snowmobile a time or two. There’s nothing quite like the feeling as you glide over the snow at spectacular speed, or just head out for an afternoon cruise. In Canada, snowmobiling is a popular wintertime activity, and the longer it stays cold, the longer the season lasts.
One of the most popular snowmobiling destinations in the country is the area known as cottage country, around the shores of Lake Huron. This region is close enough to one of the most densely populated areas in North America (and the most densely populated area in Canada) to be a convenient getaway place, even in winter time, for a large number of people. As a result, the communities in the area have established a large network of recreational activities for winter, and the Town of Parry Sound is the heart of the snowmobile network.
The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs has created a vast network of recreational snowmobilers, and part of their goal is to create safe and legal areas to pursue their hobby in prime regions of Canada. As a result, there are thousands of kilometres of trail around the Town of Parry Sound, with the majority of them well groomed all winter long.
